The First United Methodist Church (FUMC) of La Porte, TX arrived in Ghana …all 13 of them! Each armed with suitcases and boxes of books! It was perfect timing to celebrate our 5th anniversary for the Joy2theWorld Christian Academy…actually 10th anniversary for Joy2theWorld (NGO). The first 5 years as a micro loan organization and now, an important date for our school.
They showered our students with new books for our library…the students lined up to help stack the shelves. Some held books close to their hearts just because books are treasure here. Few and far between. But today, our library is filled to capacity and the adult/teacher books fill a shelf in my office for the teachers to enjoy. Some ideas for Professional Development, Classroom Management and more will be folly for future meetings. Our newest intern, Hallie Jones, daughter of Margaret Jones, (caught wearing mother-daughter overalls!) is staying with us for 3 months…Hallie is super organized and has already catalogued our books! Wow! School supplies and creative arts supplies were appreciated by our KG1 and KG2 teachers! Office supplies were accepted and are already being put to good use!
